A ductless or mini-split air conditioner works just like a conventional split central air conditioner. It has an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. Other than that, the ductless air conditioner works just like a traditional one, just without the ductwork. These systems are built to last. With proper maintenance, most ductless mini-split systems will last for 15+ years. The mini-split outdoor and the indoor units both need to be maintained. More on that below.
